Libby Theresa
Fiance
Sep 20, 1937 — Oct 4, 2026
Libby Fiance, 89, Remembered for Her Love of Family, Generous Spirit, and Zest for Life.
FIANCE—Libby, age 89, was born on September 20, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York. She passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, in Boynton Beach, Florida, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.
Libby was the beloved wife of Seymour “Sy” Fiance, who preceded her in death in 2010. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, adventure, and fun. Partners in both life and business, they built a laboratory furniture manufacturing company and other businesses and were longtime members of YPO (Young Presidents' Organization) that took them across the country and around the world. Libby ran production control with the same determination and dedication she brought to raising her family. She believed deeply in education and worked tirelessly to give her children the foundation to make their own way in the world.
Libby and Sy loved to travel, attend major events, and experience the world together. They were always ready for an adventure and determined to show their children life beyond their own doorstep. Libby treasured the memories and keepsakes they gathered along the way. They also loved music and dancing, and Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” captured their confident, spirited approach to life.
Music remained a source of joy and connection throughout Libby’s life. She especially enjoyed the community surrounding Jazz at Lincoln Center and loved spending time at Dizzy’s Club, enjoying the music and good company.Family was at the heart of Libby’s world. She and Sy brought their blended family together as one, embracing and raising as their own the children each had from previous marriages, while also welcoming three children together. Libby loved all of her children fiercely and took great pride in the generations that followed. Her home was a gathering place, especially during holidays and celebrations. A wonderful cook, she could also cater a large family event “like nobody’s business,” ensuring that everyone felt cared for and welcomed.
Libby loved flowers and gardens, was a voracious reader, and had a gift for making people feel welcome. After moving to Boynton Beach, she became everyone’s Grammy, keeping treats for neighborhood dogs and goodies for local children. Animals held a special place in her heart throughout her life, especially her dogs, including her cherished Bella. In Florida, she became fascinated by the local Muscovy ducks, learning about them and occasionally bending the rules to show them kindness. Her mischievous streak and talent for getting into a little “good trouble” never faded.Libby lived with elegance, confidence, humor, and an enduring zest for life. She loved the word “fantabulous,” which became part of the family vocabulary. She spoke her mind, loved fiercely, laughed often, and made life more joyful for everyone around her. There will never be another Libby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sy; her son Jeffrey Lee, whom she helped raise and loved as her own; and her grandchildren, Brian F. and Aaron B.
Libby leaves behind her eight cherished children and their spouses/partners Eddie (and Debbie), Sandy (and Twanna), Cindy (and Dave), Mona (and Arthur), Robert (and Beth), Joan (preceded in death by Amir), Jeffrey Jay, and Mary (and Aaron). She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren Jenny (and Brian M.), Peter, Ian, Alex (and Zoe), Jeremy, Talia (and Tanner), Natalie (and Justin), Adam, Julia, Jessica, Jordan, Jayden, Harrison, Sam, Amanda (and Jacob), Keith (and Mari), Brian K., Samantha, and Sky; many incredible great-grandchildren Jordan M., June, Jase, Sammy B., Matthew, Liam, Jonah, Ruby, Ozzie, and Iris, who will carry her legacy forward. She also leaves her dear brother, Dr. Michael Gewitz (and Judy) and their daughter Emily (and David) and their child Josh; and their son Andrew (and Melissa) and their children Genevieve and Cameron –and many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends.
In Libby’s memory, those who wish may consider planting a tree in honor of her love of nature or donating to a charity close to her heart, including cancer charities, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or organizations supporting the arts. Rest peacefully with Sy, Libby. You have earned your wings.
You and your dazzling life will be loved and remembered always and forever. P.S. To anyone who knew and loved Libby from her family to her friends, she is with you always and our sincere apologies if we missed you.
