Obituary

Eugene Francis Eyler (83), of Margate, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, after a courageous struggle against cancer for 15 years. Eugene was born on November 10, 1943, in Frederick, Maryland to Charles and Mary Alma Eyler. He grew up in Mt. Airy, Maryland, graduated from Massanutten Military Academy, and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam era where he met and married the love of his life, Guadalupe Eyler, with whom he settled in south Florida. He was the father of five beloved daughters (Cristina, Irene, Jeanine, Esperanza, and Victoria). He was also a very patient father to his most beloved, cantankerous, and spoiled rotten feline son, Max. Eugene will be remembered for his dedication to family, intense work ethic, value of education, love of trawlers and long car rides, and for his wonderful sense of humor (sorry Dad, but scrapple is just gross!). Eugene retired from a distinguished career in the automotive industry that began when he started walking as a child and would wander into his father’s shop (Eyler’s Garage). He absolutely loved order and often “helped” his father by putting all his tools away “where they belonged,” much to Charles’ dismay. Eugene is survived by his wife, Guadalupe, his daughters (Irene, Esperanza and Victoria,) his daughter-in-law Jodi, and sons-in-law (Daniel, Harry, Jay, and Raul), his sister Cynthia and her family, his brother’s widow Sue and her family, his grandchildren (Andrea, Jennifer, Savannah, Raul Jr., Aaron, and Jared,) grand in-laws (Kaitlyn, Kellen, Rick, and Travis) and his great grandchildren (Arianna, Bella, William, Jack, and Sara). Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mark, and his daughters Cristina and Jeanine. Eugene had several beloved felines that preceded him in death, as well (Jerry, Magellan, Smokey, Fritz, and Samuel).

Eugene will forever be in our hearts and never forgotten. Please join the family for a celebration of his life on August 8, 2026, 12:00pm to 4:00pm at The Boca Dunes Country Club, in Boca Raton, FL, where we will wish him fair winds and following seas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
